We source our flax (the linen fibres used to make our Linen Range) from France. French flax is renowned for its high quality, durability and softness - which is why so many companies source their raw flax fibres from there. The raw materials are shipped to our own factory in China, which proudly carries several standards and certifications in ethical and sustainable business practices. This is where our linen is woven, dyed, and washed.

'Stonewashed' essentially means that the linen has gone through a softening process, taking it from a raw and scratchy material to a soft and supple one. There are two types of stonewashing: one where you wash the linen with actual stones, and one where you mimic this process with an organic enzyme wash. We have chosen to use an enzyme wash, as the stone process damages the fabric - making it more susceptible to pilling, fading, and general degradation. Our organic enzyme wash preserves the strength and integrity of the yarn, while softening the fabric.

How long linen lasts depends on how often you use it, how well you take care of it, and how it is stored. We encourage you to have at least 3 sets of bedding to avoid high rotation and 'wearing out' of the fabric. Following our care instructions will also extend the lifespan of your linen. Always store your linen in a cool place, free of moisture or damp. If your linen is cared for properly, then you can expect it to last up to 5 years.

You should expect your linen colour to fade slightly over the years. As we use natural dyes (rather than harsh chemical dyes), continuous washing and drying over a period of time will cause these dyes to fade. You can prevent fast fading by ensuring that you follow our care instructions; always gently wash on cold or warm, and line dry in the shade.

Linen is a little different to cotton and other materials, as it uses GSM (Grams per Square Meter) rather than Thread Count. The higher the GSM, the heavier and weighter the fabric is. As we intend our linen to be used year-round, we opted for a medium weight of minimum 160GSM (although some of our linen products are as high as 170GSM).
